On Community

Who is in your community? I like to think I have many humans in my community and they are all interconnected and sometimes know each other through the invisible threads of connectedness. My community crosses paths - a collection of family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, shop-owners, children, teachers, caregivers, and makes my life rich. I love to integrate them and see their eyes light up when they meet someone I’ve spoken about.

Community is crucial to our well-being - it can hold us together, step in when we need help, and frame our lives. I have often felt the greatest sense of warmth through unexpected encounters and connections with people who become part of my community.

I’m sure you’ve had a moment when you shared tea and a laugh with a neighbour or someone on the lacrosse or soccer field. My favourite moments are when I feel connected to my community in unexpected ways. I’ve loved helping out local businesses - caring about their wellbeing while they support the community with their services and contributions. Often, I’ll take them a coffee before dropping in - this makes the community feel less transactional and more about relationships and care for each other.

Community is not separate from business — it is the foundation that allows businesses, organizations, and people to thrive together. When communities are strong, local economies are stronger, workplaces are healthier, and organizations are better equipped to respond to the evolving needs of the people they serve.

We love supporting and building communities with our clients. As businesses and organizations continue to navigate growing social and economic challenges, the importance of strong community connections has never been clearer. We believe that healthy communities are built through collaboration, responsiveness, and relationships rooted in trust, accountability and curiosity.

Building community is creating meaningful connections between people, services, and opportunities. People want to engage with organizations that demonstrate care, accountability, and a genuine commitment to social well-being. Investing in community is not only socially important — it strengthens relationships, builds trust, and creates long-term resilience.

Sharing moments of time, tea, laughs and stories are how I’m building my community - Who is in your community - how are you building it??
